Any user can connect
2–6 weeks
Unlimited installs via a Marketplace listing. Up to 25 accounts can connect on day one with no review. HubSpot states an initial review 'within 10 business days' and allows up to 60 days for the feedback process, so several fix rounds can push past 6 weeks. Time to get 3 active unaffiliated installs first is not included.
- Waiting on
- At least 3 active installs from unaffiliated production accounts (30-day activity window), then the HubSpot Ecosystem Quality team's manual listing review. Approval lifts the 25-install cap.
- Cost
- Free. Building, test accounts and Marketplace listing have no fee. Some scopes only work on customer accounts with paid Professional or Enterprise tiers.
What you need first
A HubSpot standard account (free CRM is enough)
Separate developer accounts are legacy. Since March 9, 2026, all developer tooling (projects, test accounts, apps) lives in standard accounts under Development.
Node.js and HubSpot CLI v7.6.0 or later (npm install -g @hubspot/cli@latest)
New apps are built as developer-platform projects; creating legacy public apps in the UI was disabled in May/June 2026. The CLI is the documented path.
HTTPS redirect URL on a real domain (http://localhost is allowed only for testing)
auth.redirectUrls must use HTTPS. HubSpot rejects IP-address redirect URIs in production.
Live privacy policy, terms of service, support contact and support resource URL
Required for the Marketplace listing, which is the only way past 25 installs.
At least 3 real customers on unaffiliated HubSpot production accounts
A listing needs 3 or more active unique installs with OAuth API, webhook or extension activity in the past 30 days.
