Trivial

A public (OAuth) connection is self-serve with no review step: once it is created with installation scope 'Any workspace', any Notion user can authorize it.

What you need first

  • A Notion account and a workspace to develop in

Connections are created in the Developer portal and tied to a development workspace.

  • A public HTTPS redirect URI on your backend

Required in the OAuth configuration. Notion redirects here with ?code= or ?error=.

  • A server-side secret store and a token database

The code exchange uses HTTP Basic auth with client_id:client_secret. Store the access_token, refresh_token, bot_id, workspace_id and owner from every authorization.

  • Privacy policy URL, terms of use URL, support email, company name, website

In the older integration UI these were the 'Distribution' fields needed to make an integration public, and they appear on the auth screen. The current Developer portal docs only list name, workspace, redirect URIs, installation scope and capabilities, so these may now be optional or moved to Listings.
